Position Description
Unimacts is looking for a Quality Control Technician for our Conroe, Texas operations. Our employees are “industrial business athletes” and can be effective in many roles, the key responsibility of this person is to both lead and where needed take a “hands on” active role in the development of our US plant and local supply chain capabilities.
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for processing/inspecting incoming parts and materials, in-process parts and products during the manufacturing cycle, first article/final product and outgoing material while ensuring that all company and customer requirements are met.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, test, and measure products, components and materials using analytical equipment and hand gages.
- Ensures proper maintenance and care of equipment used to validate compliance to Customer specifications.
- Create dimensional records from drawing specifications.
- Complete process audits to assure the process control.
- Review quality documentation and records for completeness and accuracy.
- Assure product quality and quality system compliance.
- Report findings in real time to supervisor and take appropriate action.
- Must also be able to concentrate on their tasks across the process.
- Enter data on quality records according to established procedures, manage and archive the documents control.
- Work with Maintenance / Production on continuous improvement activities.
- Incoming inspection control for raw material to be used on the process.
- Maintains adherence to company policies, Safety/Quality/Delivery/Cost standards as outlined in roles and responsibilities of ISO 9001 Unimacts integrated management system.
- Attends safety meetings and training and follows all safety guidelines.
- Participates in job training as organized.
- Learns new systems and methods when necessary.
- Non-destructive test certification is a plus.
Requirement and Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Ability to read and understand, drawings, specifications, job orders, bill of materials, and work instructions.
- Ability to document audit findings and results of quality checks.
- Ability to communicate quality non-conformances verbally and effectively present information to supervisor, support staff, production staff and co-workers.
- Must be able to write clear, concise procedures and work instructions.
- Must be able to read instructions, complete quality forms and records, and enter data into the database.
- Must be able to perform tests and inspections.
- Strong GD&T interpretation and measurement abilities.
- Must have knowledge/experience with the following: basic shop math, basic geometry, measurement systems and instruments, gages, measurement equipment’s (caliper, micrometer, etc.), angle measurement instruments, calibration systems, blueprints and engineering drawings, inspection planning, identification of nonconforming material, nonconformance levels of severity.
- Use AQL controls
- Strong organizational skills, time management; ability to multitask and is action oriented.
- Other Attributes should include Self-directed requiring minimal supervision; urgency, and attention to detail and problem solving.
- Excellent communication skills, bilingual in English/Spanish a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials or technical field desired.
- Experience in Steel Industry preferred
- 2 years’ experience as a Quality Technician in a manufacturing environment required.
- Experience using various gages (Calipers, Micrometers, and Fixtures).
- Experience with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement preferred.
- Six Sigma certification a plus.
- Experience with ERP systems and manufacturing software experience preferred.
- Experience working with a control quality system (i.e., ISO9001) preferred.
